Position Details

The Mazon Police Department is looking for one full time certified Police Officer with a minimum of 3 years current law enforcement experience.

Residency within 15 miles of the Village of Mazon is required.

Candidates must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and be on call as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, direct and control the operations of the Mazon Police Department.
• Patrol and enforce state statues, local ordinances, and federal laws as necessary.
• Communicate with victims, offenders, citizens, Sheriffs Office, State's Attorney, City Officials, employees, and Board members.
• Attend court proceedings on behalf of the Village as necessary.
• Completing paperwork required including but not limited to: Police Reports, Ordinance Violations, State Required Reporting, etc. 

Qualifications:

• Must possess an Illinois Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification.
• 3 years previous experience in law enforcement.
• Have professional knowledge of state, federal, ordinance and crime prevention.
• Have practical knowledge of defensive tactics and firearms.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Live within 15 mile radius of the Village of Mazon.
