Position Details

Somonauk Police Department

Certified Police Officer -1 Full Time position available and (1 to 2) Part Time positions

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be an Illinois Certified Police Officer and eligible for a waiver from ILETSB
• Must be in good standing with or recently separated from a municipal, county, state or other law enforcement agency, with no negative work history
• Must be currently employed or within the last 3 years 

Normal working shifts for full-time officers are 4 10 hour shifts, with 3 days off, 3 banks of shifts with fixed days off, shifts rotates every 2 months, weekends off every third rotation.

Full-Time Officers are required to reside within a 30-mile radius of the Village upon completion of probation.

Part-Time Sworn Certified Police Officer:

All part time officers are required to work a minimum of 16 hours per month

No residency requirement

Normal part-time shifts are 4 hour blocks 4pm to 8pm on a sign up basis

Qualified Individuals wishing to be considered for either the Part-Time or Full-Time positions shall furnish a letter of interest and a resume to the Village of Somonauk, either in person or via Email or Fax at the contacts listed above.

Selection Process:

The Chief of Police and the Employee Relations Committee will review all letters of Interest and resumes, and will establish a list of candidates who will be invited to fill out an application and continue with the remainder of the selection process as determined by the Village of Somonauk.
