Position Details

Zion Police Department

Zion, Illinois

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Zion, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Zion Police Department.

Please note: You may only apply once per year. If you have applied to the City of Zion for the position of police officer within the last 12 months, your application will not be accepted.

All Applicants Must Meet the Following Minimum Requirements to Apply:

• At least 21 years of age, not to exceed the age of 35, at time of application
• U.S. Citizen
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record

All Applicants Moving Forward In the Process Must Meet the Following:

• Successfully pass a written test with a score at or above 70%
• Successfully complete an oral interview
• Successfully complete a background investigation:
• Applicants will be required to fully disclose all personnel matters, to include agreements and sealed files and submit to fingerprinting if required
• Successfully complete a psychological evaluation
• Successfully complete a medical physical, including drug and alcohol screening
• Successfully complete the P.O.W.E.R Test conducted through any of the following testing centers: Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) –OR- Joliet Junior College -OR- Triton Community College. A valid POWER test card must be provided prior to hire
• Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee (this fee will be waived for City of Zion residents with proof of address)
• Application deadline: Friday, December 15, 2023 at 4:00 PM
• Complete mandatory on-line written examination testing: Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 7:00 AM through Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 7:00 AM.
