The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Alsip is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic.
Testing is being conducted for immediate hires and to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated future hiring needs.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Age Requirement: Applicants MUST have attained their 20th birthday by the last date for filing applications (1/17/24). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at the time of application (1/17/24).
- Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language fluently.
- Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
- Certifications and Training:
- At the time of application, the applicant MUST be either an Illinois certified Paramedic (EMT-P) OR a Nationally Registry Paramedic (NREMT) (If applying from outside of Illinois) OR an EMT-B currently enrolled in a paramedic program (proof of enrollment in a paramedic program required) Must be a certified paramedic at time of hire. AND
- Must Possess an Illinois OSFM Certificate Firefighter II, OR Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate, OR A certificate of completion from the Basic Operations Firefighter from Illinois Fire Service Institute, OR Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy OR Romeoville Fire Academy, OR Illinois Community College that offers a Basic Operations Firefighter program, OR Equivalent of NFPA Firefighter I (out of state applicants) at time of application.
- Residence: All firefighters shall reside within the State of Illinois within six (6) months of completion of their probation.
- CPAT Card: Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certification with Ladder Climb Exercise at the time of application, MUST have been issued between the dates of 1/17/23 and 1/17/24.
- Candidates must successfully pass a written examination, oral interview, polygraph test, background investigation, medical examination, drug screening by a physician designated by the Village of Alsip.

There is a $30.00 non-refundable application fee. Applications are NOT available at the Alsip Fire Department or Village Hall.
