Two Open Positions
The Village of Lincolnshire is accepting applications for both Lateral Police Officers and Entry-Level Police Officers.

Police Department
The Department will always accept applications but to be considered for the first round interview, completed applications must be received by February 9, 2024 at 12:00 PM.
LATERAL CANDIDATES:
Lateral candidates must complete the submit the following information:
- Resume with cover letter.
- Waiver and Release of Liability (located on page 6 of the application packet)
- Three professional references with contact information
- Copy of your police officer state certification
ENTRY-LEVEL CANDIDATES:
The Lincolnshire Police Department requires a written exam for the position of entry-level police officer through the National Testing Network (NTN). For more information, please visit www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. In conjunction with completing the test with the National Testing Network, all entry-level candidates must complete the Personal History Questionnaire through NTN and submit the following information:
- Resume with cover letter.
- Waiver and Release of Liability (located on page 6 of the application packet)
- Copy of your high school and/or college transcripts
- Copy of valid P.O.W.E.R. test card within the last year
Selected candidates will be scheduled to attend the police academy at the Macon County Law Enforcement Center in Decatur, Illinois starting on Sunday, May 5, 2023.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete the application packet and requirements.
- U.S. citizenship or a legal resident at the time of entry to the Police Academy
- Must embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- No misdemeanor or felony convictions
- At the time of employment, applicant must be legally eligible to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Illinois
- Minimum of 21 years of age at time of application; be UNDER 35 years of age at the time of application and at such time as the initial eligibility list is posted, unless otherwise exempt by Statute.
- No residency requirement
- All employees are expected to present a professional appearance and must be of good moral character.
- Vaccination cards are NOT required.
CANDIDATE PROCESS:
- Initial process:
- Selected candidates will be contacted for a first interview date.
- Candidates successful in the first interview will be asked to complete a ride along with an officer involved in the Department’s recruitment committee.
- Candidates may be scheduled for additional interviews with Command Staff personnel.
- Background investigation:
- Applicants will undergo an extensive background investigation to include a polygraph examination and an interview with detectives. Conditional job offers are dependent on successful completion of both psychological and medical testing.
- Police academy:
- The police department has two spots reserved for each Basic Law Enforcement session at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center.
