Position Details

The Village of Streamwood, Illinois (pop. 39,858), seeks qualified candidates for the position of Court Liaison/Evidence Analyst.

What the job is:

Civilian municipal law enforcement related work:

  • Providing administration and overall maintenance of the body worn cameras and mobile video camera program
  • Gathering and preparing digital evidence
  • Receiving and maintaining recovered property
  • Monitoring departmental court calls
  • Assisting the Village Prosecutor 

What the essential responsibilities are:

  • Assign and maintain inventory of camera equipment to include cameras, docking stations, cables, etc. and to ensure adequate supplies are on hand.
  • Review and redact videos and ensure release is in accordance with federal, state, and local statutes, and established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for policy and procedure review and evaluation, and assists in development, implementation and updating of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for routine functionality audits ensuring video evidence is properly uploaded and policies and procedures related to the body worn and mobile video camera program have been followed.
  • Regularly attends court and prepares court transmittal documents for the Circuit Court of Cook County (CCOCC).
  • Coordinates warrant processing between the police department and CCOCC.
  • Prepares court documents and notices to Village personnel for court appearances and records, and schedules continuances of assigned cases.
  • Coordinates preparation and presentation of complaints and requests for warrants. 

What physical demands there are:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time; occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and equipment etc.; operate a computer and other office machines, tools, equipment, software as identified below; traverse the Village and surrounding area in order to transport records and evidence; and communicate with others, including residents and employees/officers.
  • The employee must regularly move items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is required to observe, recognize, assess and inspect documents and computer equipment from close and long distances. 

What qualifications and requirements are necessary:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper courses of action.
  • Ability to work within the Cook County Circuit Court system.
  • Knowledge of evidence collection, processing, and preservation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of citizens or Village employees.

Personal computer including printer and scanner; fax machine; telephone; calculator; Microsoft Office Suite software; and specific software developed for the Police Department and Village.
