The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Pingree Grove is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Police Officer.
Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire 4 new officers and to establish an Eligibility List for future anticipated hiring needs.
It is the mission of the Pingree Grove Police Department to provide services with integrity and dedication, to preserve life, to enforce the law, and to work in partnership with the community to enhance the quality of life in the Village of Pingree Grove.
Pingree Grove is less than an hour from downtown Chicago. It is located in northern Kane County which, in recent decades, has rapidly transitioned from agricultural area and small towns along the Fox River, into one of the nations fastest growing suburban counties. The family friendly community is situated right here in the picturesque countryside of Illinois.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen of the United States or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States. Must under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase, or otherwise possess a firearm.
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
- Age Requirement: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (4/10/24). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years on 4/10/2024, AND at such time as the Initial Eligibility List is posted unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time police officer in a regularly constituted police department for a municipality in the United States.
- Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Residence: At this time there is no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Pingree Grove.
- Language: Must be able to comprehend the English language, both spoken and written.
- Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
- POWER Card: Must possess a valid POWER Card issued between the dates of 4/19/23 and 4/10/24 issued by certified testing agency. NOTE: Illinois Full-Time Certified Law Enforcement Officers are exempt from needing to provide a P.O.W.E.R. Card but must provide a copy of the Full-Time Law Enforcement Certification issued by the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board.
- Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all phases of the testing process including:
- polygraph test
- medical examination
- psychological assessment
- drug screening
- intensive background investigation
All individuals meeting the eligibility requirements are encouraged to continue with the application process.

There is a $25.00 non-refundable application fee. Applications are NOT available at the Pingree Grove Police Department or Village Hall.
