Position Details

The Gurnee, IL Police Communications Center provides 24 hour emergency and non-emergency communications support as a consolidated communication center for multiple agencies including:  Gurnee Police; Gurnee Fire; Zion Police; Zion Fire; Newport Fire Protection District; and Beach Park Fire Department.  The Gurnee Police Communications Center responds to over 145,000 emergency and non-emergency telephone calls per year and dispatches over 100,000 police calls and 14,000 Fire/EMS calls annually.

This position requires additional testing to continue in the process. Candidates eligible to participate in testing will be selected and notified by email with an invitation link to complete the testing process. This process will begin in January 2024 and will occur on an ongoing basis.

Not all candidates will be invited to participate in testing. Candidates not receiving a testing invitation within 60 days after date of application submission are not under consideration for the position of Communications Operator.
