The full-time position works 40 hours a week. 

The Village of Itasca, Illinois is seeking an experienced full-time Police Records Assistant.

The Records Assistant is a civilian employee under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Administration.  The position is responsible for the processing and filing of all police reports, traffic citations, and municipal ordinance violations in the Village of Itasca. The Records Assistant is expected to perform in a courteous and professional manner in all dealings with the public, department personnel, and to comply with the orders, policies, procedures, and rules and regulations of the department.

General Responsibilities:

• Maintain the security and confidentiality of all records and documents.
• Process traffic citations, police, and accident reports.
• Perform data entry into the Records Management System and CJIS computer systems.
• Prepare transmittals to the DuPage County Circuit Clerk’s Office for all arrests and citations.
• Manage LEADS responsibilities, including driver’s license abstracts and criminal history records from local, state, and federal authorities.
• Process requests for records, expungements, and reports from both public and private entities, including copying and forwarding arrest reports to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and Village Prosecutor and file all work as needed for the circuit clerk and the local prosecutor.
• Utilize video redaction software within the body-worn camera system to mark and apply redactions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Preferred candidates will have experience working in the Records Division of a police department, must be self-motivated and willing to take on additional tasks.
• Applicants must, within the first year of employment, become a State Certified LEADS Operator.
• Experience using the BEAST evidence management, Axon / Evidence.com, and Hexagon systems is a plus.
