Position Details

The Lemont Fire Protection District Board of Fire Commissioners is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements at time of application:

• Authorized to work in the United States
• No felony convictions
• High school diploma (or transcripts) -OR- G.E.D. equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Must present a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Ladder Climb certification issued within one year of the application deadline date at time of application (CPAT/Ladder Climb must be issued between June 10, 2023 and June 10, 2024)
• Additional information on the CPAT and Ladder Climb Certifications is available in the "Summary of the Hiring Process" section of the application.
• Must have a valid Illinois EMT license (EMT-B) at time of application
• Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application fee
• Application deadline is Monday, June 10, 2024 at 4:00 PM

Additional requirements at time of conditional offer of hire:

• At least 21 years of age at time of hire AND must be UNDER 35 years of age at time of hire unless otherwise exempt by State or Federal Law. (Reference: 70 ILCS 705/16.06b(c))
• Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Firefighter II Certificate -OR- Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate -OR- have an OSFM Record of Completion dated within four (4) years
• Illinois or Nationally Registry Paramedic (EMT-P) Certification
• Valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card with Ladder Climb Certification issued within 12 months
• Must meet the requirements of:
• background check
• polygraph test
• physical and medical examination including drug testing 

Preference points will be awarded by the Lemont Fire Protection District for any one of the following categories:

• Military experience
• Fire Service experience
• Education
• Residency within the District’s jurisdiction
