Position Details

The City of Rockford Police Department is currently accepting applications for Entry Level Police Officer.

The application will be open till July 31st at midnight.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be 20-34 years of age (must be turning 21 prior to the academy start date in January.)
• Must have a valid Driver's license
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Must be able to obtain a FOID card

Tattoo Policy:

The Department takes a conservative approach to all aspects of personal appearance, including tattoos. It is not the intent of the Department to deny any employee the ability to personally express him or herself. The Department does however require all employees to maintain a professional and conservative appearance. Therefore, the Department prohibits tattoos located on the face, head, neck and hands. There are some exceptions to the hand tattoos-it is a case by case per the Chief of Police. Personnel may have tattoos that are visible while working unless the tattoo(s) is/are obscene, offensive, sexually suggestive, profane or discriminatory towards persons on the basis of their race, color, national origin or ancestry, religion or creed, age, sex, or disability. Any tattoo deemed offensive by the Chief will be covered while in uniform in public.
