Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

• U.S. citizenship or legal resident of the United States
• Must be at least 20 years old and less than 35 years of age at time of written exam; Exemptions to age limit only offered for full-time law enforcement experience
• Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire 
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid driver’s license 
• Valid P.O.W.E.R. test card dated within one year from the date of the written exam. Must be dated August 3, 2023 - August 3, 2024. The following places are acceptable places to take the P.O.W.E.R. test:
  • N.I.P.S.T.A. http://www.nipsta.org/POWER/register.aspx
  • Joliet Junior College http://www.jjc.edu/about-jjc/facilities/power-testing
• Be of good moral character

Orientation and Testing Information:

Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on:

Check-in will begin at 8:00 AM. Please arrive no later than 8:30 AM with a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, military ID) to sign in. There will be no late admittance.

All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to attend and successfully complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.
