• Starting salary is $18.00 per hour. A variance of afternoon hours between 0800-2200 hours, in 4 to 8 hour blocks, may include some weekends and will not exceed 20 hours per week.

Position Details

Summary:

The position involves clerical assignments, data entry and assisting Support Services in the day to day operations as requested.  Duties will include processing and filing reports for the Police Department, front desk receptionist duties, and assigning calls that walk into the lobby.  The employee is required to handle sensitive information and legally protected documents as required by law and must have the ability to perform job duties with a high degree of tact and discretion in dealing with confidential materials and actions.

Qualifications:

• The employee must demonstrate abilities in data entry, keyboarding, filing and handling confidential documents, to include written and verbal reports all in accordance with prescribed regulation, directive or ordinance.
• The employee must also possess good customer service and communication skills.

Special Requirements:

• The employee must be able to pass a job related physical and extensive criminal background through the State of Illinois.
• The employee must be over 18 years of age and a US citizen either born or naturalized.

Education and Experience:

• A high school diploma or equivalent work demonstrating competency in writing and an ability to clearly communicate and understand the English language.
• The employee must have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, working knowledge of computers, word processing, data management and electronic file management.
• Three years of experience in a police department environment is desirable, but a combination of school, skills and experience may be accepted for the position.
