Position Details

The Village of Hoffman Estates is accepting applications for the position of:  Police Officer

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to fill multiple positions and to establish a new Eligibility List for many anticipated openings.

The Village of Hoffman Estates has won over six Governor’s Home Town Awards for its innovative programs. You must meet the following minimum requirements: 

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Driver’s License:  Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s license upon hiring.
• Age Requirements:  Must have attained their 21st birthday, by the last date for filing applications (9/18/19). Applicants, must be under the age of 35 at last date for filing applications (unless they have been certified as a full-time police officer with a municipality in the United States, or otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6).
• Education:  Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or High School Proficiency Certificate AND a Bachelor’s Degree at the time of application. (with proof of documentation by day of testing)
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character
• Eyesight:  Eyesight shall be at least 20/20 corrected and may not be afflicted with color blindness or any eye abnormalities at the time of an offer of employment.
• Hearing:  Hearing shall be consistent with a level necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Residency:  Upon certification, all Police Officers must within one year of completion of probationary period reside within a 45-mile radius of the corporate boundaries of the Village of Hoffman Estates, IL
• Testing:  Must be able to participate and successfully complete all phases of the testing.
• Attention:  Applicants who possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 3/18/19– 9/18/19 will be exempt from taking the Physical Ability Test on the day of testing.  All other applicants must take the Physical Ability Test on the day of testing.

Applications are NOT available at the Hoffman Estates Police Department or the Village Hall.

Orientation, Physical Ability and Written Examination:

Sunday, October 6, 2019 – Registration Starts at 8:30 AM

Orientation Starts at 9:00 AM

Physical Ability and Written Examination immediately following the Orientation

• Applicants with a current P.O.W.E.R. Card (3/18/19 - 9/18/19) will take the Written Examination immediately following the Orientation
