Police Records Assistant (Part-Time)

The St. Charles Police Department seeks to hire competent, dedicated, customer service focused administrative assistants to staff the Police Records front desk at the police department.

These part-time positions will include weekdays, evenings and weekends for 23 to 26 hours a week Schedules are as follows:

• Position 1 – Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and Tuesday & Thursday 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
• Position 2 – Saturday & Sunday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Monday, Wednesday, Friday 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
• Position 3 – Saturday & Sunday 8:00 PM – 12:00 am and Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• Position 4 – Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 12:00 pm

Job Description:

• Responsible for a variety of administrative and customer service tasks at the Police Records front desk. Assists with inquiries, projects, and tasks as requested or assigned. 
• Welcome citizens and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries appropriately. 
• Receive citizen complaints and take appropriate action to initiate an efficient response. This includes handling after-hours non-911 emergency call-outs for City staff to respond to a variety of situations. 
• Utilize written procedures and department computer systems to make inquiries, perform miscellaneous clerical functions, and assist the public, officers, and other law enforcement agencies. 
• Accept various cash payments and issue receipts with accuracy.
• Monitor department surveillance, intercom, and security system. 
• Applicants will occasionally work alone in the office and should have the flexibility to cover other shifts when needed to provide office coverage.
