Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Zion, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of POLICE OFFICER with the Zion Police Department.

Written Examination:

September 25, 2024 at 7:00 AM through September 26, 2024 at 7:00 AM

All Applicants Must Meet the Following Minimum Requirements to Apply:

• At least 21 years of age, not to exceed the age of 34, at time of application
• U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record
• Successfully complete the P.O.W.E.R Test conducted through any of the following testing centers: Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) –OR- Joliet Junior College -OR- Triton College
• A POWER test card must be dated within 9 months PRIOR to the application deadline and submitted with the application
• Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee (this fee will be waived for City of Zion residents with proof of address)
• Complete mandatory the on-line written examination

All Applicants Moving Forward In the Process Must Meet the Following:

• Successfully pass the written test with a score at or above 70%
• Successfully complete an oral interview
• Successfully complete a background investigation:
• Applicants will be required to fully disclose all personnel matters, to include agreements and sealed files and submit to fingerprinting if required
• Successfully complete a psychological evaluation
• Successfully complete a medical physical, including drug and alcohol screening
