The Town of Geneva is currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of Chief of Police.
Our current Police Chief has announced his retirement.
The Police Department has seven (7) sworn officer positions, and 1 administrative assistant, serving the Town of Geneva of approximately 5,500 people.
The Township is seeking an energetic, committed individual with proven success in police management, excellent communication skills, high moral standards, with the willingness to become a part of the community.
The Police Department is governed by a Police Commission and a Township Board of five (5) members.

The Town of Geneva is located in Walworth County in Southeast Wisconsin, approximately 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee and 90 miles northwest of Chicago. It is conveniently located a short distance between the cities of Lake Geneva, Elkhorn, and Delavan. Lake Como divides the township. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the complete operation, control, and representation of the Township's Police Department as set forth in State Statutes and Township Code.
- Directs, sets goals and objectives, and oversees all Police Department operations; manages the physical facilities and equipment.
- Formulates and enforces Department rules of conduct and policies; oversees all activities of the Department for adherence to established policies and work methods.
- Develops and projects a good public image of the Department and its employees with the news media.
- Assesses potential hazards in the community and refers any information to the proper authority for corrections or handles according to Department or Township policy.
- Works closely with the Police Commission.
- Serves as the Township's Emergency Management Director; works with County Emergency Management, the Township serving Fire Chiefs, and Public Works Director to plan, organize, and conduct activities related to the provision of emergency services and disaster management, including readiness planning.
Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously (Multi-task)
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to pass a firearms qualification Course
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver’s License
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- Previous experience
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- Supervisory/Management Experience
- U.S. Citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
- Ten (10) years of sworn law enforcement experience, including five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Education Requirements:
MINIMUM/REQUIRED:
- Associate degree (or equivalent) with at ten (10) years of experience in law enforcement and five (5) years of supervisory experience in law enforcement organization OR
- Bachelor's Degree with at least five (5) years of experience in law enforcement and two (2) years of supervisory experience in law enforcement organization
HIGHLY DESIRED/PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's degree / master's degree in criminal justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, High Education Administration, or related fields. Executive Level of Police Leadership program such as the FBI National Academy.
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field required.
- Master's Degree and/or advanced management training such as the FBI National Academy, Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command, or southern Police Institute or similar course preferred.
