Position Details

Department Overview:

The Lisle Police Department consists of 48 employees, 38 of whom are sworn officers, including a Chief, two Deputy Chiefs, and five Sergeants. The department has a state-of-the-art facility complete with a firing range, modern evidence processing lab, and training and fitness rooms. Officers enjoy working 12-hour shifts and participate in extensive levels of ongoing training. Officers have the ability to exercise while on duty and participate in job enrichment programs. The department also offers a variety of specialty positions, including Detective, Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician, Emergency Management Specialist, SWAT Operator/Negotiator, Mobile Field Force Operator, Bike Patrol, Accident Reconstructionist, and School Resource Officer.

Mandatory Remote On-Line Written Examination:

All applicants must complete the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network.

Job Requirements: 

• Age: Must be 21 years old at the time of application and under the age of 35 (as of the posting of the initial eligibility list unless otherwise provided by 65ILCS 5/10-2.1-6). Exemptions for military or prior police experience.
• Citizenship Required: Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• High School Grad/GED: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Valid ILLINOIS Driver's License: Valid driver's license (does not need to be IL)
• Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
• Vision: Binocular vision correctable to 20/20
• Academy Certification: No
• Prior Experience: No
• Necessary Certifications: Valid Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) issued by testing end date (September 6, 2024). POWER test cards considered valid if issued within one (1) year PRIOR to the testing date (July 29, 2024).

• Additional Requirements:
• Residency required within 50 miles of Lisle within the state of Illinois by the first date of employment.
• No felony convictions. 

Hiring Process: 

1. Complete the Lisle Police Department application process. This includes completing the National Testing Network's Frontline exam, personal history questionnaire, Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA), and uploading a completed application with all necessary documentation. Applications with missing documentation will not be considered.
2. Oral interview with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
3. Background investigation
4. Polygraph exam
5. Psychological exam
6. Physical exam Preference Points: Preference points will be awarded for the following: (points are non-cumulative; maximum 5 points awarded) 

• Education (5 points) – Associate's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement or Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college/university.
• Military (5 points) – Minimum of one (1) year of full-time active military service in any branch of the U.S. Military with honorable discharge.
• Experience (5 points) - Current employment as a full-time or part-time law enforcement officer in the state of Illinois. A certificate from the Illinois Local Government Law Enforcement Officer Training and Standards Board must be presented.
