Position Details

Pleasantview Fire Protection District

The Pleasantview Fire Protection District is a dynamic organization dedicated to serving multiple communities, including Burr Ridge, Willowbrook, Indian Head Park, Countryside, Hodgkins, and unincorporated Cook County. 

Situated just west of the City of Chicago, we are responsible for protecting residents within a 14 square mile area, including two major expressways, I-55 and I-294.

Our Mission:

The Pleasantview Fire Protection District is committed to safeguarding the lives and property of our communities' residents. We achieve this through:

Our Team:

We operate three fire stations, staffed by 70 dedicated personnel. This includes:

• 48 shift personnel who work a 24/48-hour schedule
• 24-hour operational coverage
• Deployment of 2 front-line engines, 2 front-line paramedic ambulances, 2 front-line ladder trucks, 2 special rescue vehicles and 1 Battalion Commander vehicle

Requirements:

• At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age as of application deadline, unless exempt by state statute
• No Felony or Disqualifying Misdemeanor Convictions
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Applicants must be United States citizens or an alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence that produces evidence of intention to become a United States citizen. Applicants selected for employment must meet the district's residency requirements.
• Valid Driver's License
• Current Illinois or National Registry EMT-P (Paramedic) Certification at time of conditional offer. Applicants not currently in possession of an EMT-P license shall be allowed to complete the testing process by submitting proof of current enrollment in a State of Illinois IDPH approved paramedic program. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in the program by submitting a letter of good standing from the organization sponsoring their enrollment or by the course administrator, on their letterhead.
• Successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test with Ladder Climb Certification conducted by a licensed agency due by the time of hire.
• Illinois State Fire Marshal Certified Basic Firefighter or Firefighter II due at time of conditional offer
• Must be of sound mental and physical health and meet all established standards
• Must be able to pass:
• written test
• medical examination and drug testing
• polygraph examination
• background investigation
• psychological examination
