Minimum Requirements:

• $35.00 non-refundable application fee
• At least 21 years of age and not older than 35 at time of appointment, expect per Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
• Must be a citizen of the United States
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Possess and Associate's Degree OR the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at an accredited college, university or junior college at time of application
• Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record
• Possess 20/20 corrected vision
• No felony convictions
• Present a valid CPAT with Ladder Climb – must be dated within 12 months of the application deadline
• Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) – due at time of conditional offer of employment
• Possess a Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certification form the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Illinois)
• Must successfully complete a written examination
• Must successfully pass a subjective component (oral interview) with the Fire Department
• After a conditional offer is extended, a candidate must successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, oral interview with the Board of Fire and Police Commission, medical and visual exams, and successfully test into the Good Samaritan EMS System

• Copy of valid IL IDPH EMT-Paramedic License – Optional: due at time of conditional offer of employment
• Copy of valid IL OSFM Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certification
• Copy of valid CPAT and Ladder Climb Card(s) dated 8/29/2023 – 8/29/2024

Those successfully passing the written exam must attend the mandatory oral interview on Tuesday, October 22nd, Wednesday, October 23rd or Thursday, October 24th. Additional details including locations and times will be provided at a later time.
