LATERAL TRANSFER POLICE OFFICER

The Oswego Police Department is seeking experienced/certified police officers to join our team as we look to establish a Lateral Transfer Police Officer Eligibility List (Register).
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS THAT MUST BE MET BY MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2024:
- State of Illinois Law Enforcement Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a law enforcement officer in good standing (part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement), OR candidates must hold an equivalent certification from another state (completed basic police training program/academy) which can be transferred and accepted by the ILETSB. For a conditional waiver of Illinois basic law enforcement training and reciprocity with the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards Training Board (ILESTB), you must pass all requirements, including but not limited to mandatory firearms training, Illinois Law for Police Course, and equivalency exam within six months of hire, and
- Applicants shall be employed for a minimum of two consecutive years with their CURRENT agency as a fulltime Sworn Municipal Officer, State Trooper or County Sheriff’s Deputy AND they must have completed their probationary period as of December 9, 2024, and
- Currently in good standing with the police department in which the person serves or is laid-off due to budgetary restraints with that agency, and
- Possess the knowledge, skills, abilities and level of experience required pursuant to the call for qualified lateral transfer applicants, and
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent by December 9, 2024, and
- Must be a United States Citizen and have a Valid Driver’s License by December 9, 2024, and
- Must pass written examination, oral interview, in-depth background investigation, which includes a polygraph, and
- After conditional job offer, must pass Medical (including drug screen, hearing and eye exam) and Psychological examinations
