    Starting Salary for Firefighter/Paramedics May 1, 2025:

    • $76,831.72 + 7006.74 (Paramedic Pay)
    • After 7 years (Top Pay): $114,864.63 + 7006.74 (Paramedic Pay)

     

    Starting Salary for Firefighter/Paramedics May 1, 2026:

    • $79,328.75+ 7232.46 (Paramedic Pay)
    • After 7 years (Top Pay): $118,597.73 + 7232.46 (Paramedic Pay)

     

Position Details

Eligibility List Testing for Firefighter/Paramedic

River Forest Fire Department

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in the Fire and Police Commissioners Act. Proof of birth date will be required at the time of application.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens of the United States or otherwise eligible for examination pursuant to Section 10-2.1-6(a) of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Act (65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6).
  • Applicants must possess a high school education or its equivalent.
  • Applicants must be licensed and certified as a paramedic by the Illinois Department of Public Health upon hire. 
  • Applicants must possess a CPAT + (Ladder Climb Exercise) Certification from a licensed administrator in Illinois dated July 11, 2023 – January 11, 2025.

Details will be provided to applicants that successfully pass the written exam with a minimum score of 70%.
