POLICE RECORDS ANALYST
Elk Grove Village, Illinois, (pop. 33,127), a strategically located, progressive community that is home to the largest consolidated business park in North America, is seeking dynamic, detail and skills-oriented candidate for the position of Police Records Analyst. Elk Grove Village is located in Cook and DuPage Counties adjacent to O’Hare International Airport and is home to approximately 3,600 businesses, located in its 5.4 square mile Business Park.
The Police Records Analyst is responsible for assisting the Records Supervisor in supervising the overall daily operations of the Records Section of the Police Department in the absence of the Records Supervisor. The Police Records Analyst performs administrative work for the Records Section of the Police Department. The position is responsible but not limited to data entry, file maintenance, statistical report preparation, composing correspondence, scheduling and the administrative operation of the office. This position reports to the Police Records Supervisor.
Key Essential Functions include but not limited to:
- Supports the Records Supervisor in supervising the overall daily operations of the Records Section of the Police Department.
- Reviews and develops responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for the Police Department.
- Assists with maintenance of user information in the LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) database for the Police Department.
- Understands and can become proficient with software relating to viewing, retrieving and redacting Body Worn Camera videos.
- Verifies and corrects data errors reported to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and State Data Collection portal.
- Excellent customer service skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of 60 credit hours of college coursework required, with a Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, as well as five (5) years of comprehensive and progressive work responsibilities, including two years of police records experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- Familiar with Police Records Management systems.
- The position receives training in FOIA laws through seminars and on-line training offered by the Attorney General’s Office. The position is required to keep up-to-date with ever-changing Federal, State and local laws.
- Preferred experience in National Incident based Reporting, and Police Records Management.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must become Leads certified within 30 days of employment and have a valid Driver’s License.
