The Kendall County Sheriff Merit Commission is establishing an expedited eligibility list for:
PATROL DEPUTIES
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES MUST BE:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or an alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States
- Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s license upon hiring
- Age Requirements: Be twenty-one (21) years of age. An applicant may apply at age twenty (20), provided that no applicant shall be eligible for employment certification until their 21st birthday. There is no maximum age
- Education: Must have a High School Diploma or have a certification of equivalency
- Character: Must have no felony convictions, nor domestic violence criminal convictions, nor any misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude (50 ILCS 705/6), nor dishonorable discharge (U.S. Army RE-4 separation classification or equivalent) from the military
- Eyesight: Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20, free of color and night blindness
- Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all phases of the testing which includes a physical agility test, written examination, oral interview, psychological evaluation, medical test, preemployment drug screening and background investigation which includes a polygraph
- Police Officer’s Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER): Must possess a valid POWER card by the background phase. Certifications must be dated withing one year of issuance.(ILETSB standards can be found here)

Select Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois under the law enforcement job class.
Exams must be completed and submitted by February 23, 2025, at 11:59 PM CST.
Exam Fee: $65 paid on the National Testing Network website
Applicants scoring 70% or higher on each section of the exam will be invited to interview. Interviews will be scheduled between February 10 – 28 2025, during business hours.
