Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

• $25 non-refundable application fee
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal resident.
• Valid driver’s license. Must obtain an IL license upon time of hire.
• POWER test card – must be dated within one year of the written exam. Illinois Certified Police Officers are not required to have a POWER test card.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 20 years of age at the time of test (3/30/2025) and 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
• Must be under 35 years of age at the time of application and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Character – Must not have committed any felony, qualifying misdemeanor or crime involving moral turpitude and be of good moral character pursuant to 50 ILCS 705-6
