Salary:

• Lateral Entry Officers may qualify for starting pay increases:

  • Lateral Officers with two years of experience will be paid at the Year 2 tier: $95,301.61
  • The maximum amount that a Lateral can be paid in the Village is the Year 5 tier.  If a lateral has 5 or more years of police experience and desires employment with the Village, they will be paid at the Year 5 tier: $105,171.14 (on 5/1/2025, top pay will increase to $109,377.99)

  • Compensatory time accrual up to 80 hours
  • Investigations, Acting Watch Commander (AWC), and Field Training Officer (FTO) stipends
  • Educational pay incentive of $800 for those who possess Associate Degrees and $1200 for those who possess a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Educational Reimbursement for attainment of Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree, while employed with the Village.

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire.

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Broadview is now accepting applications for Lateral Hire Police Officer Candidates.

Broadview has a “small-town” feel while existing only 13 miles away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago.  Broadview’s suburban setting offers respite from the big city, yet its location puts restaurants, sports arenas, shopping centers and convention/meeting facilities just minutes away.

The Broadview Police Department is dedicated to the service of their community and will continue to pursue the safety of all of their residents, businesses and visitors.

Officers work Twelve-hour shifts, with every other weekend off

(7:00 AM – 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Experience:  Applicants must be actively employed as Full-Time Certified (by the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board) Sworn Law Enforcement Officer for a minimum of 24 months of service, or recently separated from service with a minimum of 24 months of service.
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Vision:  Correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.
• Residence:  No requirements for residency declared by the Village of Broadview.
• Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing which include:
• polygraph and psychological examination
• background investigation
• physical exam and drug screening
