We are currently accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Officer.

The ideal applicant will have flexible availability – The Part-Time police officer position consists of shift work which includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Applicants with afternoon and midnight shift availability will be given priority with regard to interviews.

The Palos Park Police Department traditionally hires Full-Time Officers from our Part-Time patrol staff. The Palos Park Police Department currently has (1) opening for the position of Full-Time Police Officer, which would bring our Sworn Full Time Staff to 12. We encourage those interested in working for our agency full-time to apply for a part-time position so that they can begin to work in our community and learn about the benefits of a full-time career with the Palos Park Police Department. 

Full Time Officers with the Palos Park Police Department enjoy benefits set forth by their Collective Bargaining Agreement. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on April 30, 2025 and is currently in negotiation.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Must be a Certified Police Officer through the State of Illinois having attended a ILETSB recognized basic Police Academy (full or part-time academy)
• Must be a citizen of the United States
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent high school education
• Must be at least twenty (21) years of age
• Must have a Valid Driver's License
• Must have a Valid Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOID)

Retired law enforcement officers are encouraged to apply.
