Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Justice is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Police Officer.

The Justice Police Department Value Statement expresses what we value as important to professional policing and articulates the kind of police department we are. Testing is being conducted for immediate new hires and to establish an eligibility list for anticipated future hiring needs.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States.  Must, under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase or otherwise possess a firearm.  
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application and at time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicant must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (3/12/25).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications (3/12/25) and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6., which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Law Enforcement Officer for a municipality in the United States.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
• F.O.I.D. Card:  Must possesses a valid F.O.I.D. Card at the time of conditional offer of employment.
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• NOTE: P.O.W.E.R. Card not needed to apply, but all candidates must possess a valid P.OW.E.R. card from a certified testing agency, dated no more than 6 months prior to conditional offer.
