Position Details

The Grayslake Police Department currently employs 32 full-time police officers, 6 part-time officers, and 3 community service officers who handle nearly 30,000 calls per year.

Grayslake Police currently serves the Village of Hainesville as part of a police service contract in effect since 2011.

Patrol officers work a twelve-hour shift with every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday off.

The department has integrated several industry leading technologies to improve officer safety, performance, and community service. All uniforms, body armor, and duty weapon are provided. 

To take the police officer candidate eligibility exam and become a part of our team, you must be:

• 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at the time of applications
• Possess a high school diploma
• Possess a power test card from NIPSTA or other ILETSB (Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standard Board) certified physical testing facility. Test cannot be older than 9 months before the date of exam.
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork, (including military docs, copies of birth certificate, power test card, and school transcripts along with ANY other paperwork or copies specified in the application packet).
