The application deadline is July 3, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
You must meet the following minimum requirements:
FIREFIGHTER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Village of Winnetka Fire Department
U.S. citizen or meet the requirements of the Illinois Human Rights Act for citizenship status;
Must have passed 21st birthday and, except as otherwise provided by law, be under 35 years of age at date of filing application*;
Valid driver’s license;
High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate’s degree or at least 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university prior to offer of employment. Evidence of two (2) years of active naval or military service may be accepted in lieu of 60 college credits;
Valid CPAT and Ladder Climb card – considered valid ONLY if issued within six (6) months PRIOR to the written exam date (February 4, 2018 – August 4, 2018) from an approved testing agency.
Valid certification from the State of Illinois as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (IDPH EMT-P) by date of hire;
Vision correctable to 20/30, normal peripheral vision and able to distinguish colors;
Residency in Illinois at time of employment.
*the maximum age does not apply to anyone who has previously been employed as a firefighter or who has turned 35 while serving as a member of the Military with honorable service under age 40.
Village of Northbrook Fire Department
U.S. citizen or meet the requirements of the Illinois Human Rights Act for citizenship status;
Must have passed 21st birthday and, except as otherwise provided by law, be under 35 years of age at date of examination (August 4, 2018);
Valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent AND one of the following:
Associate’s degree or at least 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college/university (copy of official certified transcripts due at application deadline);
OR
State of Illinois licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (IDPH EMT-P);
OR
State of Illinois licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (IDPH EMT-B) AND Illinois Officer of the State Fire Marshal Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter certification;
Valid CPAT and Ladder Climb card – considered valid ONLY if issued between January 1, 2018 and August 4, 2018 from an approved testing agency:
Vision correctable to 20/40, normal peripheral vision and able to distinguish colors.
All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to attend and complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.

Sign-in begins at 8:00 AM. Please arrive no later than 8:30 AM with a photo ID (driver's license, state ID, military ID) to sign-in. Late arrivals will not be permitted. Testing will take place in Northbrook, IL. The exact testing location will be provided to eligible candidates prior to the exam date.
