Salary:

• Starting: $65,873

  Increases to: $69,167 after the first year and $80,070 after the fourth year

  2025 Hiring Incentive:

  • $1,500 paid to the employee upon successful completion of the policy academy

  Current Lateral Officer Incentive:

  • $2,500 hiring incentive paid to the employee immediately upon hire
  • All applicable paid time off is made available to the lateral employee upon completion of their field training program 

  Below is an example for the base wages for lateral applicants based on the current collective bargaining agreement:

  • Step D – 1 year of experience = $69,167
  • Step E – 2 years of experience = $72,626
  • Step F – 3 years of experience = $76,258
  • Step G – 4 years of experience = $80,070 

  *If the lateral applicant has more than 5 or more years of experience, then Step G would be the applicable starting base wage.

Qualifications:

Candidates must:

• Be between 21 and 34 years of age (some exceptions apply)
• Hold a high school diploma or GED
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Successfully complete the required physical agility test, written examination, background investigation, and oral interview
• Reside in Illinois or Iowa within a 60-minute commute to Rock Island
