Position Details

The Winthrop Harbor Police Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill seasonal positions as Community Service Officers for our North Point Marina Security detail.

The North Point Marina is the largest marina on the Great Lakes and offers 1,500 boat slips on a protected floating dock system. The North Point Marina hosts seasonal festivals, fishing and boating events, as well as boat launch facilities, fishing piers, picnic areas, and a public beach. Security for North Point Marina is provided through their administration under the direction of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department.

Responsibilities:

As a Marina CSO your duties would include:

• Pier/dock and boat slip safety & security checks
• Security checks on surrounding Marina property
• Vehicle parking enforcement
• General assistance to the Marina community 

Shift hours:

Schedules may include 6, 8 and/or 12 hours shifts primarily between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am.

We offer flexible scheduling perfectly suited to students and a pleasant outdoor work environment.

Additional Information:

Physical screening is required including pre-employment drug testing.

Applicants must:

• Be 18 years or older at time of application
• Have a valid driver's license
• Be able to pass a standard Law Enforcement Background check 

This is a seasonal position from May 1, 2025, through October 31, 2025, and offers invaluable work experience for criminal justice students!
