The City of Geneva Fire Department is accepting applications for Career Firefighter.

This round, applications are open to those who are currently licensed as EMT-P OR those with a minimum of EMT-B who are enrolled in a paramedic program. This is an excellent way to join a stellar department and gain hands-on experience while finishing your education.

Career Firefighter Minimum Requirements:

United States Citizenship
Must be 21 years of age at time of application, and under 35 years of age at time of appointment, unless otherwise exempt by statute
High school diploma or GED
Must have a current State of Illinois Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter certification
Must be a certified EMT-Paramedic, Illinois Department of Public Health OR be a certified EMT-Basic, Illinois Department of Public Health and at time of hire be enrolled and in good standing in the Southern Fox Valley EMS Paramedic certification program and complete field internship (ride time) requirements with the City of Geneva Fire Department
Valid driver's license
Have successfully completed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within 12 months prior to the application deadline
Must pass written examination and oral interview
Must pass, after conditional job offer:

polygraph test
medical exam
psychological exam
drug screening
intensive background investigation

If hired and prior to completing probation (one year), you must live within 25 miles from the corporate limits of the City of Geneva. Residency must be obtained before the completion of his/her probationary period.

Testing Information:

You will have the option to take the exam in-person or in a virtual setting. You must select which method you would like to take the exam at time of application.

The virtual exam will be scheduled during business hours the week of June 9th.

The in-person exam is scheduled for Saturday, June 14th.
