  Full Salary Range: $25.34 - $39.07/hour

  The Evidence Custodian will work 15-20 hours per week.

  This position does not qualify for benefits.

Position Details

The Evidence Custodian is a non-sworn, part-time civilian member of the Police Department and provides a variety of non-emergency services to the community that do not require physical arrest or relate to a crime in progress. The Evidence Custodian is responsible for the receipt, storage and release of found, stolen and confiscated property and evidence impounded by the Police Department or other law enforcement agencies. This position will require a high level of discretion, the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to new technologies and work under minimal supervision. The Evidence Custodian will experience contact with internal staff members, law enforcement personnel, outside agencies and the community at large.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior educational background in criminal justice or related field preferred. 
• Property & Evidence Management Certification preferred.
• Previous law enforcement experience preferred. Prior background in investigations or evidence strongly desired.  
• Ability to become LEADS certified within 6 months of hire required.
• Valid Driver’s License.
