Firefighter Minimum Requirements:

• Must be twenty-one (21) years of age at time of hire and cannot be 35 years of age or older at time of hire. (Unless exempt by state statute).
• U.S. Citizenship
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Illinois State Fire Marshal Certified Basic Firefighter or Firefighter II due at application deadline
• Successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test with Ladder Climb Certification conducted by a licensed agency due at time of hire and dated within 1 year
• Current IDPH EMT-P (Paramedic) Certification due at time of hire

Orientation & Testing Information:

Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home. Testing session(s) will be offered to eligible candidates and will be proctored virtually. Session(s) will be offered during business hours the week of June 9, 2025. No weekend or evening sessions will be available – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times. In late May you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam.

Candidates who require ADA accommodations must contact IOS Recruitment at least two weeks prior to the written exam date. All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to attend and successfully complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.
