Minimum Requirements:
U.S. citizen
Must be 20 years and 6 months of age and, except as otherwise provided by law, be under 35 years of age at the date of the exam. Must be 21 years of age by time of hire.
Valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent
National or State of Illinois licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) or Paramedic (EMT-P)
Must have one of the following:
Associate’s degree or at least 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college/university,
National or State of IL licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P), or
IL Office of the State Fire Marshal Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter certification
Vision correctable to 20/40, normal peripheral vision and able to distinguish colors
Must have a valid CPAT and Ladder Climb Certification twelve (12) months prior to the examination date

Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship. May include: county/state birth record, passport, or naturalization papers

Copy of official college transcripts showing proof of an Associate’s Degree OR 60 semester credit hours from an accredited college/university, copy of IDPH EMT-P or copy of OSFM FFII/Basic Operations certificate
Copy of CPAT/Ladder Climb dated no earlier than June 21, 2024
Orientation and Testing Information:
Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination currently scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL.
Specific testing details will be provided to eligible candidates.
All portions of the testing process are mandatory.
Failure to attend and successfully complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.
