West Central Consolidated Communications (WC3) is a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation serving 4 Fire/Police/EMS agencies, Brookfield, McCook, North Riverside and Riverside.
WC3 is recruiting experienced and qualified applicants to join our team.
Telecommunicator job duties include:
- Answering 9-1-1 telephones
- Transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio
- Relaying information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch terminal
- Monitoring fire/burglar alarms
- Answering administrative and non-emergency lines serving our member agencies and public safety personnel
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
- Applicants must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Applicants must have 18 months of 911 Telecommunicator experience
- Applicants must have the ability to read, write and speak English while reading the contents on a computer screen and observe work simultaneously
- Applicants must be able to accurately type at least 35 wpm
- Applicants must be able to pass the applicant testing process in its entirety including full police background investigation, and medical screenings
- Schedule flexibility and multi-tasking are fundamental
Preferred Qualifications:
- Police, Fire and EMS dispatch experience
- Knowledge of public safety communications systems including CAD/RMS and 911
- Data entry experience
- Customer service
- Foreign language skills in Spanish or other desired language(s)

Once a resume is received a .pdf fillable WC3 application will be sent electronically to your email.
Candidates with at least 18 months of experience in a State, County, or Municipal 911 center will not be required to take the skills test and will progress straight to the interview stage.
- Take and pass an online skills and personality test. After WC3 receives the application, candidates will be notified via email of how to access the online test within 1-2 weeks after applying.
- Candidates need to regularly check their email (including spam and junk folders) for an email from onlinetesting@invitations.testgenius.com. Candidates will have only 5 days to complete the required online test once notified. There is no cost for taking the test.
- Only those candidates who successfully pass all sections of the online skills test, including the typing test (35 WPM or faster), will be reviewed (including a review of their application).
- Successful candidates will be invited for a “sit along” in the dispatch center and peer interview at WC3 and the Executive Director. Post-interview activities will also include a police background check. If selected for the position, post-offer contingencies include a drug screen and physical.
