Position Details

The Civil Service Commission of Blue Island will conduct an examination to create an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old and under 35 by the exam date (unless exempt per 65 ILCS 5/10-1-7).
• U.S. Citizen or DACA recipient (EAD number required).
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Basic Operations Firefighter or Firefighter II Certification (State Fire Marshal or accredited academy).
• Paramedic certification required at time of hire.
• Current CPAT Certification with ladder climb from a licensed and approved academy at time of hire.
• Must meet all requirements under Illinois law and the Blue Island Civil Service Commission Rules & Regulations. 

Testing Process:

Mandatory Orientation & Written Exam:

Oral Interviews:
