Entry-Level Police Officer Hiring Process

Lincolnshire Police Department

Lincolnshire, Illinois

The Village of Lincolnshire, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Lincolnshire Police Department.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Lincolnshire: 

• U.S. citizenship
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university obtained by January 1, 2020 
• No misdemeanor or felony convictions
• At the time of employment, applicant must be legally eligible to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Illinois
• Minimum of 21 years of age at time of application; be UNDER 35 years of age at the time of application and at such time as the initial eligibility list is posted, unless otherwise exempt by Statute
• No residency requirement
• All employees are expected to present a professional appearance. Body piercing, other than ear piercing, must not be visible. Visible tattoos, intentional branding and/or scarring are prohibited and may not be covered with bandages, makeup, or additional clothing or compression sleeves, while wearing a short-sleeved uniform.
• Restrictions are also in place for hair styles, facial hair, and any facial modifications that deviate from conventional anatomical features such as earlobe gauges, subdermal implants, tongue piercing, etc.

Important Dates: 

• Orientation and Written Exam:
• A department orientation will take place in Lincolnshire at the Village Hall located at 1 Olde Half Day Road on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.  The check-in process will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.    
• The written test will immediately follow the orientation at 9:00 a.m.
• Oral Interviews:
• First interviews will take place with the Recruitment Committee. Those selected to continue will meet with the Command Personnel for a second interview.  All oral interviews will take place between November 11th and December 6th.  
• Oral interviews will be held at the Village of Lincolnshire, One Olde Half Day Road, Lincolnshire, IL 60069. 

*** Bachelor’s degree must be obtained by January 1, 2020

*** Spring 2020 Graduates: 

• Applicants who attend a colleges/university that accepts completion of the police training academy or internship requirement for graduation will be considered. If an applicant’s school certifies in writing that all other graduation requirements are met, the applicant may apply and be hired prior to their spring 2020 bachelor’s degree completion.
