Lateral Police Officer

• Must be a State of Illinois certified Police Officer currently employed and in good standing with an Illinois law enforcement agency
• Minimum of two (2) years’ law enforcement experience required
• HS diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• Must complete employment application, interview, thorough background investigation to include a polygraph and psychological examination 
• Required to have a valid drivers’ license.
• Patrol officers work 12-hour patrol schedule 
• No residency restrictions

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow written/oral instructions and work within a chain of command
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential documents
• Ability to operate the following: assigned patrol car, police radio, computer
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel) 

Physical Requirements:

• To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee must be able to stand, walk, run and kneel. The employee must be able to see, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, handle and operate objects or controls.
