Position Details

The Deerfield Police Department is seeking applications for the full-time position of Community Service Officer.

This is a civilian position and the typical schedule is Monday-Friday but requires occasional shift work including weekends and holidays. This CSO supports the Police Department by performing a wide range of non-emergency, non-sworn duties, enhances public safety, enforces local ordinances, and engages directly with the community to improve the overall quality of life in the Village of Deerfield.

Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Respond to non-emergency service calls; including lockouts, accidents, motorist assists, etc., and complete necessary reports
• Assist with traffic control at accidents, fires, and special events
• Parking enforcement and fee collection at the Deerfield Metra Parking Lots
• Evidence and property management
• Respond to animal complaints
• Fleet maintenance liaison
• Assist with community service programs
• CSO will be fully cross-trained in Dispatch and Records
• Receive 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for Deerfield, Bannockburn, Riverwoods and Lincolnshire on an as-needed basis; dispatch officers and monitor police units using Tyler/New World Systems, CAD, and radio equipment
