Salary:

• Starting: $40.41 - $45.74/hour, based on experience and qualifications (as of 9/1/2025)

  Approximate Annual Equivalent: $84,052.80 - $95,139.20

  Upon hire, lateral entry candidates will be placed at the contractual step pay.

  Lateral candidates shall be considered entry-level employees in all other ways.

Applicants must:

• Be a citizen of the United States
• Provide respective State Law Enforcement Certification with 1 year of Certified Police Officer experience
• Possess a valid Illinois Driver's License
• Have a High School Diploma (or its equivalent)
• Be of good moral character and be able to perform all the duties and tasks assigned to a Bloomingdale Police Officer
• Not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude
• Be free from the use of illegal drugs
• Must be able to fully disclose all personnel matters, including any agreements and any sealed files 

Applicants must successfully pass a comprehensive selection process, including:

• Physical agility test
• Drug screen
• Polygraph exam
• Ride-along
• Oral interview
• Background investigation

Applicants must also meet the criteria established by Illinois State Statutes and the Bloomingdale Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. 

After a conditional job offer, but prior to actual employment, a candidate must successfully pass a medical exam and physiological exam, all in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
