Police Records Supervisor Job Announcement

The Village of Streamwood, Illinois (pop. 39,577), seeks qualified candidates for the position of Police Records Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

This is a non-sworn position responsible for supervisory and administrative work in the operation of the Police Department records system, both automated and manual. Work involves the responsibility for supervising clerical personnel assigned to the records function.

The Records Supervisor is responsible for the integrity of the Police Department data base, Day-to-day operation of the Police Department computer aided dispatch network and integration of the Police Department computerized data system with systems maintained by the Village of Streamwood, State of Illinois and U.S. Department of Justice.

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience
• Five (5) years of experience in a police or law enforcement environment
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Ability to review and evaluate the work of subordinates.
• Knowledge of police procedure and criminal law and Uniform Crime Reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of modern office, supervisory and management practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of laws pertaining to police records systems, Freedom of Information Act, and other statutory requirements of Police Records systems.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and criminal justice officials. 

Residency Requirement:

Must live within the following boundaries within 12 months of hire:

• Those portions of Cook County, DuPage County, and Kane County north of I-290 and I-88. 
• Those portions of Lake County and McHenry County south of Rt. 176 and east of Rt. 23.
