RUTLAND DUNDEE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

Department Overview:

As a growing combination fire department, The Rutland Dundee Fire Protection District is proud to serve the communities of Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts & Unincorporated Rutland & Dundee Townships.

Operating 2 stations with 2 ALS Engines and 3 ALS Ambulances, 1 Tender & 1 Brush Truck. Our stations are each staffed with a 3-person Jump company for 24 hours, 365 days a year.

Requirements:

• Age: Minimum 20 years of age and not older than 35 years of age by the application deadline date of October 6, 2025. The maximum age restriction will not apply to an individual who meets one of the exceptions to the statutory maximum hiring age detailed in Section 16.06b(c) (1-3) of the Fire Protection District Act (70 ILCS 705/16.06(c) (1-3).
• At least 21 years old at the time of job offer US Citizen
• High School Grad/GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to Read/Speak English
• Necessary Certifications:
• Certification by the State Fire Marshal's office as a Basic Operations Firefighter or Firefighter II by the Application deadline
• Paramedic EMT-P with the Illinois Department of Public Health or Enrolled in a Paramedic Program by Application deadline
• Additional Requirements: Provide Valid Candidate Physical Ability Test Card with Ladder climb at time of hire.

Hiring Process:

• Upon conditional offer, candidates will undergo a thorough Background Examination, Psychological and Medical Examination.
• EMT-B candidates are eligible to take the examination provided they are officially enrolled in an accredited paramedic training program at the time of application.
• If hired, the candidate must obtain certification as a paramedic no later than the end of their probationary period.
