Position Details

The Village of Waterman, Illinois is currently seeking applications from exceptional individuals for the position of Certified Full & Part-Time Police Officers to serve our small but growing community.

The Waterman Police Department is fortunate to deliver our services in concert with a supportive community and administration.

The applicant will perform duties to include but not limited to:

• Enforcing traffic, criminal laws, and local ordinances
• Provide emergency response as needed
• Write reports
• Handle traffic crashes
• Attend court as needed
• Handle any and all other duties assigned 

Minimum qualifications include:

• Individuals who are currently certified as peace officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
• 21 years of age
• U.S. Citizen
• High school graduate (or equivalent)
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
• Valid FOID card
• Excellent moral character
• Positive attitude
• Good mental, emotional, and physical condition
• No felony or domestic violence convictions
• No negative work history (i.e., termination, resignation while under investigation, or resignation subsequent to an investigation)

All qualified applicants will be required to:

• Pass an oral interview
• Pass a thorough background investigation, including possible credit check
• Pass a pre-employment screening, including:
• Physical exam
• Drug screening
• Psychological evaluation
• Polygraph

Hours:

Ability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
