Position Details

DEFINITION:

Under the direct supervision of the Police Department Code Enforcement Manager, is responsible to interpret, administer, and perform code enforcement actions to ensure compliance with the Village of Bolingbrook's Codes and ordinances. This position is represented by the AFSCME union.

LOCATION:

Bolingbrook Police Department | 375 W Briarcliff Rd| Bolingbrook, IL 60440

SHIFT:

This position involves regular shift work, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Hours may be extended due to unexpected circumstances or emergencies. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm (40 hours a week) but may include evenings and weekends.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Investigates complaints of alleged violations of the Village Code related to building, zoning, property maintenance and public safety matters, from initial complaint to resolution.
• Works with commercial and residential property owners to bring properties into compliance.
• Conducts fieldwork and inspections of properties related to property maintenance, nuisance and zoning codes, writes up violations, if found; and documents and takes pictures of violation issues.
• Writes citations as necessary for code violations. Coordinates with court personnel on citations and upcoming court cases.
• Provides court testimony for Code violation cases.
• Conducts follow-up investigations to ensure compliance within an established timeframe.
• Performs other related duties as requested.
