Position Details

Age: Must be 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at the time of application unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6 which provides in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time police officer is a regularly constituted police department of any municipality

Necessary Certifications:

• Be a United States citizen.
• Must be 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at the time of application unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6 which provides in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time police officer is a regularly constituted police department of any municipality
• Must have strong written and oral communications skills
• Must have Valid Driver's License, Birth Certificate, and Social Security Card
• Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements, including but not limited to: background investigation, psychological, medical examination, etc.
• Must be willing to work all hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Residency: Must reside within 6.5 miles in a straight line from the Christian county Courthouse located in Taylorville.
• Ability to furnish upon request, a copy of the following, to the extent applicable: a resume; professional licenses; training certificates; naval or military service board and discharge papers (DD-214/Copy 4); documents confirming work experience; birth certificate; high school diploma or GED certificate 

Hiring Process:

• Complete and submit all application materials (must meet all minimum qualification requirements)
• Attend and take the written examination at a testing system from the National Testing Network. To find testing centers go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. 
• The written testing costs is $49.00
• Complete an oral interview at a date and time yet to be determined.
• Must attend a mandatory orientation at the Taylorville Fire Department located at 202 N. Main Street, Taylorville, IL followed by the power test which will be administered by Taylorville Police Personnel. The mandatory orientation and power test will be on November 9, 2019, at 10:00 am, dress in clothing for power test. The orientation and power test should last approximately 2-3 hours.
