Applicants must:
- Be a United States Citizen.
- Possess a valid CPAT and Ladder Climb certification dated within 1 year by time of conditional offer of employment.
- Be currently enrolled in a Paramedic program and be a certified EMT-P from the Illinois Department of Public Health by time of conditional offer of employment.
- Possess and show a Valid Driver's License
- Be a Certified Illinois Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter by time of conditional offer of employment
- Be at least 21 years of age and under the age of 35 unless the applicant qualifies under one of the exemptions provided by Illinois statute by the time of conditional offer of employment.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must successfully complete and pass all phases of the examination process including, but not limited to:
- written examination
- oral examination
- employment and criminal background investigation
- medical examination and drug test
- any other tests required by the Board of Fire Commissioners
Testing Information:
Candidates must attend a written exam beginning at:
10 AM on November 1, 2025
Sign-in will begin at 9:30 AM, please have a photo ID (driver's license, state ID, military ID).
The exam will begin promptly at 10 AM and anyone not present at that time will be excluded from the remainder of the examination process.
A score of 72.56% or higher is required on the written examination in order to participate in the remaining testing components.
