The Bolingbrook Police Department has 117 sworn officers and offers countless opportunities to serve our village of 77,000 residents. Bolingbrook is a diverse community located in the Chicago suburbs consisting of residential, retail, corporate headquarters, and commercial properties.
Positions are filled from a pool of lateral and entry level officers. We have openings and are currently accepting applications for entry level police officer.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of credit at a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accrediting body. (Military service, work-related training, or work-related certifications may be considered in lieu of or in combination with college credit.)
- Have vision correctable to 20/20
- United States citizen
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Firearm Owner Identification (FOID)
- P.O.W.E.R. test card issued no more than 12 months prior to date of written examination
- Pass all stages of the hiring process
- Must reside within a 30-mile radius within 18 months of hire

- Psychological Assessment
- Fire and Police Commission Interview
- Medical Assessment

Bolingbrook Police Department - Entry Level Police Officer
The Bolingbrook Police Department will be accepting applications for the position of Police Officer until January 2, 2026 at 5:00 PM for entry level applicants who are not current law enforcement officers.
See below lateral hire information if you are already a police officer.
You must meet the following minimum requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and at least sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of credit at a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accrediting body. (Military service, work-related training, or work-related certifications may be considered in lieu of or in combination with college credit.)
- 21 years old by date of hire; maximum age of 35 years at time of appointment (unless otherwise exempt by Illinois Statute)
- United States citizen
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Illinois Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card at time of appointment
- Applicants must submit proof of passing the POWER Test at time of written examination
- Licensed POWER testing agency:
- Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
- Pass a comprehensive pre-employment screening process to include:
- background investigation
- polygraph
- psychological
- medical examination with drug testing
- Must reside within a 30-mile radius within 18 months of hire
