$63,000.00
Benefits:
The successful candidate will serve as a Police Officer with the Village of Durand Police Department and will be under the supervision and direction of the Village of Durand Chief of Police. The officer will be assigned to Durand Community School District #322 as the School Resource Officer utilizing the SRO triad concept of informal counselor, guest educator and law enforcer. The Officer will follow the school's official calendar as their schedule during the school year and then serve the patrol unit of the Durand Police Department during the approximate three months when the school is on summer break. The police department and school have an excellent working relationship and are open to other schedules for the desirable candidate, including a part- time nine-month position where the SRO would work the traditional school schedule during the academic calendar year (at an established hourly rate) and then be off for the summer break (this alternative "part-time" schedule maybe ideal for a retired or soon to be retired Illinois Law Enforcement Officer).
The selected individual will work closely with all school staff and students to create and maintain a safe learning environment for all. The Officer will be responsible for enhancing existing school safety protocols, participating in threat assessments, taking appropriate law enforcement action when necessary, being a criminal justice resource for staff and students, making class presentation when appropriate, becoming an integral part of the school's makeup and being a demonstrated role model to the students who range in age from pre-K to 12th grade.
Interviews will be conducted as resumes/applications are received.
This position will remain open until filled.
The Village of Durand is an equal opportunity employer.
